Free the WiFi!!!
People, free the WiFi! I have a neighbor in my apartment complex who has a wireless router with DSL. But c'mon! Why do they have an encrpytion key?! Seriously, let's look at this:
First: Spyware and trojans and viruses, oh my! You are already hacked most of the time anyhow. Opening your wireless isn't gonna invite hackers into your network! C'mon. You're running on Windows for pete's sake!
Second: You can always reset the connection if people are hogging your bandwidth. IF THE PROBLEM IS PERSISTENT THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD ENCRYPT.
Third: Encryption isn't fool proof. People can easily learn how to "sniff" out the key.
Fourth: Share the broadband. You're already paying for it! It's not an utility. You don't pay for hourly use. You pay a flat amount with either 5 MB of transfer or 5 GB of transfer. Might as well get bang for your buck!
Honestly, if people followed this advice we could all have a little better time with our technology. Let's move forward people. Think open and share.
